African Nova Scotian Support

Hello,

My name is Mr Marshall, I am the African Nova Scotian Student Support Worker at Ian Forsyth.

The Student Support Worker Program provides support to promote the academic success and improved academic and cultural self-esteem of African Nova Scotian learners through positive role modelling, providing positive support, developing organizational skills, classroom management and also work collaboratively with administration, teachers and parents/guardians.

As the African Nova Scotian Support Worker a few of my duties include:
-Work proactively with students, staff and families to encourage positive behaviour and participation in school, staying informed of possible student discipline issues and providing intervention or support.
-Under the direction of the Principal, consult with teaching and support staff to develop appropriate strategies to improve problem-solving skills.
-Support smooth transition for African Nova Scotian students from one level of schooling to the next.

I can be reached at 902-435-8435 or pmarshall@hrsb.ca
