We are absolutely thrilled to share some monumental news!
Thanks to the very hard work of a few amazing volunteers on our Home & School Committee, Ian Forsyth has been selected as a recipient the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation Literacy Fund Grant! We are especially proud that we are the only school on the mainland of Nova Scotia to have been selected as a recipient this year (click here to see more about the grants).
The foundation has awarded us a grand total of $45,000! This incredible funding will be rolled out over the next three years to completely refresh our classroom and library collections. Get ready for brand-new decodable books for our youngest readers, dual-language texts, culturally responsive stories, and high-interest graphic novels designed to help every child find a true love for reading.
This grant is a huge win for our entire school community, and we want our students to share their opinions as to which books we should purchase for the school. Please take a few minutes with your students over the summer to fill out our Books for IFES Wish List so we know what topics, characters, and stories spark their curiosity! Feel free to submit multiple suggestions too!
